Feb 2026 STATUS OF PLAN AMENDMENT - DELAYED - Currently Kitsap County appears to be back peddling on providing the community with a DCD Planner (delayed twice) and appears to be reneging, in part on their Jan 2025 approval of agreed upon PROPOSAL that would allow for downzoning for portions of Enetai. The community was promised this amendment would be completed and adopted by Dec 2026. Start date? TBD. Community rezone survey to affected areas will be sent out via USPS mail by March. Illahee & Enetai Community online survey will be posted here.
Due to pressing and ongoing family medical concerns, SAVE ENETAI is seeking candidate for Plan Amendment Co-Coordinator which will liaison with Kitsap County Department of County Development (DCD) and have oversight of this process. Preferred qualifications are planning and/or strategic plan background familiar with zoning who can keep within the scope of the approved proposal. Most importantly are skills and patience to deal with the challenges of county government. Administrative support and small grant is provided. Please reach out so we can keep this process moving forward.

Illahee was once threatened by high density development and destruction of their forested land and as a result the Illahee Community Plan (ICP) was developed. Enetai, a portion already in the ICP, has now been threatened by high density development that would destroy an old growth forest and a historic 65 acre shoreline estate. The amendment will extend the boundaries of the ICP further into Enetai to protect the area from high density development and to preserve its rural character.
